Recovery Center Celebrates the harvest with a garden party!

On Friday, September 11, 2015, the Recovery Center held an end-of-summer party to celebrate a very successful harvest from their garden! Sharing food and pride in the accomplishment, the members and volunteers enjoyed a bounty of vegetables and herbs from the fruits of their labor!  The celebration was also a way to thank everyone for their hard work and support over the past few months. We can’t wait to see what they grow next year!

“Building Confidence and Learning a Skill to Stay Safe”

Our own Northeastern PA Health Care Quality Unit was in attendance as special needs residents learned to build self-confidence and self-reliance through self-defense program “Building Confidence and Learning a Skill to Stay Safe”.  This program was joint effort of Luzerne-Wyoming Counties Mental Health and Developmental Services, Training Council on Quality, Keystone Community Services and the Advocacy Alliance’s Northeastern PA Health Care Quality Unit teamed up with the Robinson’s Martial Arts Institute. The program was designed to teach vocal assertiveness and confidence, along with safe social behaviors, to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
