South Central PA HCQU Participates in Lebanon County Health Fair

On November 5, 2012, the South Central Pennsylvania-Health Care Quality Unit participated in a Health Fair in Lebanon County by administering 90 PIXI Scans.  A PIXI Scan is a very quick, painless procedure that measures a person’s bone density by using the heel of the foot.  Although not as precise as a DEXA Scan, it will give a good indication as to whether further testing for Osteoporosis should be done.  In addition to the PIXI scans, we hosted several other health related information tables at the fair, including blood pressure, smoking cessation, proper hand washing , height, weight and BMI measurements, and healthy nutrition and exercise information.  In addition, there was a 1/2 hour training session on stress management.
